STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT Dosan Dream School and Eastern Mennonite School offers students the opportunity to do their best at life-long learning through faith in Jesus Christ, academic excellence, personal integrity, and compassionate service in the world. Faculty, administrators, and staff make following Christ a part of all that happens at DDS / EMS and help each student to grow in their faith. Each student will be encouraged to develop honest, respectful, and caring relationships with students, parents, teachers, and others in the DDS / EMS community. Parents who choose to enroll their children at DDS / EMS agree to show an attitude of cooperation with teachers and administration, support the policies of the school, and be an active and encouraging member of the DDS / EMS community. Students are expected: • to be honest with themselves and others, • to earn grades and successes without cheating, • to participate in the daily chapel services, • to help in keeping the school and its yards clean, and • to practice patience, joy, kindness, and self-control. Unacceptable behaviors in or outside of school include: • fighting, • lying, • stealing, • hurting others with words, verbally or in text/social media in any language, • the use of tobacco, • alcohol, or drugs (both of which are illegal for all high school students in the state of Virginia), • using offensive language, • having sexual relationships, or • any argumentative or inappropriate actions. Students participating in any of these unacceptable behaviors or other habits or lifestyles that keep them from having healthy growth as a person will show the faculty and administration that the student’s lifestyle is not compatible with his/her commitment to the DDS / EMS school community. Furthermore, a student who continues living in this way will be asked to leave the school. I have read the above and agree to these goals. I also agree that all information given on this application is correct.
